Day Three at the CCAA Golf national Championship presented by PING
| The CCAA Golf National Championship presented by PING finished its third day at Red Crest Golf Club on Thursday and the leaderboards have started to take shape.
The RSEQ Women’s team unseated the OCAA Women’s team #1 for top spot, shooting a field-best 149. They currently sit 30 strokes above par. The aforementioned OCAA Women’s team #1 sits two strokes back at +32 and the ACAC Women’s team 1 still sits in a distant third at 62 strokes over par. Jordan Newlands (OCAA-1) still sits in first place with a score of +12 after shooting a 75. Rosalie Langlois (RSEQ-1) is a stroke behind in second with a strong 72 on Thursday. She is followed by Mackenzie Cloutier (RSEQ-1), at +17. Langlois was the riser of the day, shooting a field-best +1 and rising two spots, from fourth to second, she passed OCAA team #1’s Susan Chen and RSEQ Women 1 teammate Mackenzie Cloutier. On the men’s side, Zach Pageau (André-Laurendeau) still sits in first. Pageau sits even on the tournament after shooting two-under on Thursday. Fanshawe College’s Luke Evans is in a tie for second place with teammate Ben Landers. Evans shot a 71 on Thursday and Landers a 72; both men sit five-over par for the tournament. Overall, Cégep André-Laurendeau sits in first place with a score of +42. They have a commanding 12-shot lead over Fanshawe College who sit in second at +50. Cégep Champlain St. Lawrence is in third at +62; the school had its best day of the tournament, shooting 10 shots better than yesterday, and 19 better than they did on Tuesday. Owen Laverty (St. Clair College) and Cory Pharand (Durham College) were the risers of the day, both men rose ten spots, with Laverty currently sitting in a tie for 29th and Pharand in 31st. Mason Gorski (NAIT) was the story of the day though. Gorski shot a field-best 68 to catapult himself into sixth place. Gorski was in 15th to start the day and now sits only a stroke out of the top five coming into the final round. The fourth and final round of the CCAA Golf National Championship will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday. Trey Ross (Humber College), Colton Day (Georgian College), and Steven Hill (St. Clair College) will tee off on hole one and Jeremy Hart (SAIT), Quin Doherty (Durham College), and Tanner Visser (NAIT) will tee off on hole ten. It is projected to be nine degrees in King Ontario tomorrow morning and 17 in the afternoon. There is a zero per cent chance of rain and the wind will gust to less than 15 km/h |
