The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) proudly announces that Melissa Roque of The King's University has been named the 2025 CCAA Women's Badminton Player of the Year.
Beyond her collegiate success, Roque has also made an impact on the international stage. She represented Canada at the 2024 Pan American Championships, where she secured a bronze medal in mixed doubles, and competed at the 2024 World Junior Championships. She has built an impressive resume on the Canadian junior circuit, capturing multiple titles throughout her career. "Melissa Roque is making her presence known within the ACAC as she was undefeated in both women's singles and mixed doubles in tournament play throughout the season," said Andrew Harding, CCAA National Badminton Convenor. "She is undoubtedly a formidable force on the court, but one who also plays with quiet confidence and humility." Despite being in her first year, Roque has also played a key leadership role on her team. Her work ethic, sportsmanship, and encouragement of her teammates have made her a respected leader both on and off the court. In addition to her athletic achievements, she excels academically as an honour student and is actively involved in student activities at The King's University. The CCAA Women's Badminton Player of the Year receives a customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA. |
