Humber's Malik Grant Named 2026 CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Year
|
The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) is pleased to announce that Malik Grant of the Humber Hawks has been named the 2026 CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Year.
Since joining the Hawks in 2023, Grant has helped lead Humber to the provincial and national podium each season, highlighted by a CCAA national championship in 2025, where he was named Championship MVP. His impact on the program has been historic, as he now stands as the highest three-year scorer in Humber men’s basketball history. “Malik Grant is one of the most complete players to ever represent Humber — a forward who impacts the game in every way,” said Humber Hawks head coach Omar Miles. “His versatility, competitiveness, and ability to elevate those around him make him not only special but one of the very best players in the country.” Grant’s influence extends beyond his on-court accomplishments. Known for his professionalism, work ethic, and leadership, he consistently sets the standard for his teammates through preparation and composure under pressure. His team-first mentality and commitment to fair play have made him a respected leader within the Humber program. In April 2025, Grant made history by becoming one of the first CCAA players drafted into the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) and the first to appear in a game, further highlighting the growing impact of CCAA athletes at the professional level. Off the court, Grant has contributed to the development of the sport by volunteering at youth basketball camps hosted by Humber College. Through these camps, he helps teach the fundamentals of the game while promoting teamwork, work ethic, and sportsmanship to young athletes. With his elite production, leadership, and dedication to the sport, Grant has firmly established himself as one of the premier players in CCAA men’s basketball. CCAA Player of the Year winners receive a customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA National Championship banquet.
