Mohawk College to Host 2027 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship

The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) is pleased to announce Mohawk College as the host of the 2027 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship, set to take place in Hamilton, Ont. Mohawk College brings a strong tradition of basketball excellence and a proven track record of hosting national championships to the event. The Mohawk Mountaineers men’s basketball program has a proud history within the CCAA, highlighted by a national championship title in 2011-12, along with numerous provincial medals. Mohawk College has also established itself as a trusted championship host, most recently welcoming the 2023 CCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship and previously hosting the 2014-15 CCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. Matthew Ferreira, Director of Athletics & Recreation at Mohawk College, said, “Hosting the 2027 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship is an incredible opportunity for Mohawk and for the City of Hamilton. We are proud of our experience as hosts, from the 2023 CCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship to several provincial championships, and we are excited to once again deliver an exceptional championship environment. This event will allow us to showcase Hamilton’s love for the game, our campus, and the strong community that surrounds basketball in this city.” Hamilton is a passionate basketball city with a strong history of hosting major sporting events at the collegiate, national and international levels. Located less than an hour from Toronto and Niagara Falls, Hamilton offers a unique blend of urban energy, rich culture and natural beauty. Known as the “Waterfall Capital of the World,” the city features an extensive trail network along the Niagara Escarpment, along with a vibrant arts and culinary scene. These elements make Hamilton an ideal destination for a national championship. CCAA men’s basketball national convenor Eric Savage said, “Mohawk College is proud to host the 2027 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship and welcome teams from across Canada to Hamilton. Fans can expect an exciting week filled with intensity, skill and memorable moments, as student-athletes compete on the national stage in an atmosphere that reflects the passion and pride of collegiate sport.” The CCAA looks forward to working with Mohawk College to deliver an outstanding championship experience while celebrating excellence, sportsmanship and competition at the highest level of collegiate basketball. The 2026 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship will be hosted by Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, British Columbia, from March 18 to 21, 2026.
