2022 CCAA AGM Highlights
For the first time since 2019, the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in person. The four days of meetings and professional development took place in Halifax, NS, from June 13-16.
Here are highlights from the AGM:
MCAC FULL TIME MEMBERS
The Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) was unanimously voted as a full-time member conference of the CCAA, officially removing their probationary status. During the 2021-22 season, the MCAC competed at CCAA Championships in Men’s & Women’s Soccer as well as Men’s & Women’s Volleyball.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Professional development opportunities were also provided to CCAA delegates in attendance. They included presentations on Risk Management (Presented by Jason Robinson, Sport & Law), CCAA Code of Conduct & UCCMS (Presented by Judy Smith, CCAA Compliance Officer & Sandra Murray-MacDonell, CCAA Executive Director) and Pay Per View (Mark Kosak, ACAC Chief Executive Officer).

- Men’s Soccer: David Munro (ACAA)
HONOURED
- June Lumsden, outgoing Board Director, was honoured for 37 straight seasons of elected service to the CCAA. Full story here.

NEW MEMBERS
The CCAA welcomed three new member institutions from the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ):
- Collège d’Alma in Alma, QC. The Jeannois will compete in CCAA Cross-Country Running.
- Cégep Gérald-Godin in Sainte-Geneviève, QC. The Gladiateurs will compete in CCAA Cross-Country Running.
- Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe in Saint-Hyacinthe, QC. The Lauréats will compete in CCAA Cross-Country Running.
MEMBER AWARDS
- Providence University College (MCAC) earned the 2022 CCAA Community Service Award for its ‘Pilot Initiative’ program. Full story here.
- Keyano College (ACAC) earned the 2022 CCAA Innovation Award for its ‘Keyano Huskies Indigenous Jersey Reveal’. Full story here.
- Ray Chateau of Humber College (OCAA) was named 2022 CCAA Athletic Director of the Year. Full story here.
- June Lumsden of Mount Saint Vincent University (ACAA) was also named 2022 CCAA Athletic Director of the Year. Full story here.
- Lakeland College (ACAC) once again earned the Marketing Incentive Program (MIP) Elite Award.
HALL OF FAME
Eight new members from the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) were inducted into the CCAA Hall of Fame, including a builder, four coaches and three athletes:
- Judith Smith, Builder (Dalhousie Agricultural Campus)
- Bev Greenlaw, Coach (University of King’s College)
- Jacques Boudreau, Coach (Mount Saint Vincent University)
- Rick Plato, Coach (Mount Saint Vincent University)
- Ed Welch, Coach (St. Thomas University)
- Jason Carlson, Athlete (Mount Saint Vincent University)
- Crystal (MacFarlane) Cernivz, Athlete (St. Thomas University)
- Kim Fralick, Athlete (Mount Saint Vincent University)
2023 AGM
The 2023 CCAA AGM will be hosted by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) in Niagara Falls, ON, from June 12-15, 2023.
The CCAA will celebrate its 50th Anniversary at the 2024 CCAA AGM in Ottawa, ON.
