The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) is proud to announce the induction of former cross-country standout Jessy Lacourse into the CCAA Hall of Fame.
Lacourse's second national title came in 2016 while competing for the Cégep Garneau Élans, capping off an extraordinary collegiate career that began with the Cégep de Victoriaville Vulkins. She would later continue her success at the university level with Université Laval's Rouge et Or, where she was named the provincial championship's Female Athlete of the Meet on three occasions. Reflecting on her collegiate career, Lacourse remembers the strong sense of community she experienced with both programs. "Without a doubt, it's the team spirit that existed with both the Vulkins and the Élans that stands out most," said Lacourse. "The memories of provincial and national championships will stay with me forever." Among those memories, one moment stands above the rest: her final collegiate race in 2016."I was with the Garneau team, which had also earned a team medal," she recalled. "It was incredible to experience that moment together." The news of her Hall of Fame induction brought a mixture of pride and nostalgia. "It reminds me that I had an extraordinary collegiate athletic journey," said Lacourse. "I was fortunate to be surrounded by exceptional people whose support and guidance made it all possible." Looking back on her collegiate career, Lacourse is most proud of balancing athletics and academics while capturing two national titles and a silver medal. "My collegiate career gave me an invaluable springboard to my university career," she said. "It helped me gain confidence and build a strong foundation for the years that followed." Through her accomplishments, dedication, and lasting impact on collegiate cross-country running in Canada, Jessy Lacourse leaves a legacy that continues to inspire future generations of student-athletes. Jessy Lacourse was officially welcomed into the CCAA Hall of Fame during a special celebration on June 16 at Cégep Montmorency, recognizing her outstanding contributions to collegiate athletics in Canada.
