    CCAA Men’s Basketball Award Recipients

Caleb Jipp of the Saint Mary's University Lightning is the 2024 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Basketball Player of the Year.

Jipp was honoured at the 2024 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship, hosted by Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB.

Jipp's on-court achievements are impressive. He leads the ACAC in points per game and emerged as the top scorer in the entire CCAA this season. His remarkable stats include leading in steals per game and setting new records for St. Mary's University in regular-season career points scored (1481), 3-pointers made (193), free throws made (312), and steals.

"I am thrilled to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Caleb Jipp for his outstanding achievement in being named the 2024 CCAA Player of the Year. Caleb's remarkable talent, relentless work ethic, and unwavering dedication to the game have truly set him apart as one of the brightest stars in collegiate basketball in Canada this season. His exemplary leadership both on and off the court has elevated St. Mary's University to one of the top teams in the CCAA. This prestigious honor is a testament to Caleb's extraordinary skillset and his invaluable contributions to his team's success. I commend Caleb for his remarkable achievements and wish him continued success as he continues to leave an indelible mark on the rich history that is being created by the Men’s basketball program at St. Mary’s University." said Jonathan Lambert, CCAA Men's Basketball Convenor.

In addition to his on-court excellence, Jipp is recognized for his leadership qualities. His engaging personality draws people close, and he leads by example both on and off the court. Beyond basketball, Jipp is actively engaged in community service, working in a church youth group where he mentors youth and runs basketball camps for aspiring players.

Nathan Ruff, STMU Lightning coach, added, "Caleb is the heart and soul of the Lightning program. He is a tremendous competitor and an amazing man. He leads with confidence and grace and is a critically important piece of the success of the lightning program this season."

The CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Year receives a customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA.
