CCAA Women's Volleyball Players of the Month

WVB_BCCAi(Cornwall, ON - December 7, 2010) The Canadian Colleges Athletic Association has listed the CCAA Volleyball Athletes of the Month for November. The CCAA Athlete of the Month program recognizes student-athletes for their outstanding event performance and athletic accomplishments during that month.

 

The distinction is bestowed upon one male and one female student-athlete in each conference participating in the CCAA Volleyball; the five conferences are the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) the Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association (ACAA), the British Columbia Colleges Athletic Association (BCCAA), the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) and the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ).

WVB_ACACACAC:
Kate Porta, Grande Praire Regional College
Kate Porta of the Grande Praire Regional College Wolves has been instrumental in leading her team up the ACAC and CCAA Rankings. She is a consistent player who has shown great leadership and passion as team captain. Despite a nagging knee injury, her coach predicts Porta's performance will continue to improve at the season progresses. She is studying physical education.

 

WVB_ACAAACAA:
Jamie Brown, Mount Saint Vincent University
Now in her fifth year, Jamie Brown is the starting setter and captain for the Mount Mystics. As a result of her consistent performance she is leading the team in assists, and average 1.3 kills and 2.3 digs per set. She is also an excellent role model, balancing practice, training, classes and a part-time job. She is working towards a bachelor of business administration.

 

WVB_BCCABCCAA
Lindsay McLoughlin, Vancouver Island University
The VIU Mariners are ranked first in Canada, and Lindsay McLoughlin has played a key role in their success. This month LmLoughlin was named BCCAA Athlete of the week, and in a recent game against Capilano University racked up 15 kills, 10 digs and 1 block with only one hitting error in the match. She studies criminology.

 

WVB_OCAAOCAA:
Rebecca Van Staalduinen, Trent University
It is Rebecca Van Staaduinen's first year with the Trent University Excalibur, were she plays left side. Now halfway through the season, Rebecca is leading the OCAA East with 4.2 points/game and has the most digs (54) amongst players averaging over 3.5 points per game. She studies biology.

 

WVB_RSEQRSEQ:
Roxanne Ouimet, Collège François-Xavier-Garneau Now in her second year at Collège François-Xavier-Garneau, Roxanne Ouimet is the captain of the Elans' volleyball team. She has an impreccable work ethic, working hard both in training and during the Elans' games. She is an attacker who excels at both attacking and defensive strategies.
