2010 Women’s Volleyball Coach of the Year
The 2010 CCAA Women’s Volleyball Coach of the Year is Pierre Marcoux, from Collège Édouard-Montpetit.
Pierre led the Lynx to a much improved season within the Quebec Student Sports Federation (QSSF), finishing with 15 wins and 1 loss in league play and a second place finish at the Provincial Championships. Under Marcoux’s guidance the Lynx dramatically improved upon last years record of 8 wins, 8 losses.
Work in several areas was key to improving upon last year’s record. It started with training during the summer months. Fom there emphasis was put on, controlling emotions, improving technique and concentrating on receiving and distributing passes. Equally important, off the court, time was spent analysing teams and different tactics.
To build a cohesive team, Coach Marcoux, conducted group activities aimed at creating team spirit. They included three, four and seven day team building sessions. In addition Pierre would regularly meet with his student-athletes and parents offering his assistance or directing them to appropriate centres.
Coach of the Year recipients receive a CCAA customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring supplier of the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet.
