December 3, 2009--The Canadian Colleges Athletic Association announced today the CCAA Volleyball Athletes of the Month for November. The CCAA Athlete of the Month program recognizes student-athletes for their outstanding event performance and athletic accomplishments during that month.

Awards are presented to one male and one female student-athlete in each conference participating in the CCAA Volleyball; the five conferences are Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association (ACAA), Fédération québécoise du sport étudiant (FQSE) Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA), Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and British Columbia Colleges Athletic Association (BCCAA).

From British Columbia:

Alex Basso is a second year student-athlete in the Bachelor of Human Kinetics Program at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. Playing the leftside for the Heat, Alex picked up where she left off the previous year. She leads the BCCAA in kills per set at 4.40 and is averaging 5.07 points per game. She also leads the Heat in digs. Alex dominated in two important matches against Capilano, guiding the Heat to 3-1 victories in both matches. On day one against Capilano, Alex was good for 23 points (21 kills and 2 aces) and chipped in 10 digs. She followed up the next day with another 20-kill performance to keep the UBC Okanagan Heat’s perfect record and #1 CCAA rank intact.

From Alberta:

Jessica Clutton is a Bachelor of Education student at Red Deer College. Playing the right side for the Queens, Jessica is coming off one of the most impressive months in Queens Volleyball history. In four matches, Jessica has accumulated 65 kills, averaging over 4.0 kills per set. Jessica is also contributing points with her serve and block. In the month of November she has averaged 4.7 points per set, making her a large part of the Queens 8-0 success. Off the court Jessica is a strong teammate and an exceptional student-athlete.

From Ontario:

Jennifer Knowles is from Mohawk College where she is enrolled in the Recreation and Leisure Services program. Knowles is a 3^rd year veteran player within the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association but a first year for the Mountaineers. Co-captain for the Mountaineers, Jennifer leads by example showing dedication to the game and her teammates. Jennifer is a versatile player who plays multiple positions, swinging with both her left and right arms effectively. In six league matches, she is averaging 3.81 ppg with 61 kills, 6 serving aces, and 13 blocks.

From Quebec:

Catherine Laurin is a student-athlete at Collège François-Xavier-Garneau in the Human Science program. As an attacker for the Elans, Catherine has had a successful month, playing in 24 sets, contributing 73 attacks, 6 blocks, 4 assists for an average of 3.46 points per set.

From the Atlantic:

Emma Waters-Wolfe is a first year student-athlete in the Bachelor of Arts program at the University of New Brunswick – Saint John. A rookie setter for the Seawolves, Emma plays like a seasoned veteran running a very balanced attack, putting the ball on the money for her attackers. In the first seven matches of the year, Emma has averaged 30 assists, 8 defensive digs, 5 aces, and 3 kills per match.
