Preview: 2011 CCAA Women's Soccer National Championships

SoccerLogo200October 11, 2011 - The Francois-Xavier-Garneau Élans will have the advantage of defending their 2010 national championship title on home turf; College Francois-Xavier-Garneau is hosting both the Men and Women’s Soccer National Championships at their new Sports Centre in Quebec City November 9-12, 2011.

This is the last time the men and women’s championships will be held at the same site; the tournaments will be split in 2012.

“Our institution has a long history of excellence in sports that includes the organization of three national championships,” says Nicole Vachon, a member of FXG’s host committee. “Because of our past experience, we are confident in our ability to organise an event that will stay in players’ memories as one of the best events they have ever participated in.”

As hosts the Elans are guaranteed a spot in the tournament alongside five regional conference champions. Based on their past performances, however, odds are they’ll qualify on their own merit; they’ve attended the CCAA nationals as RSEQ provincial champs for the past seven years. If they take the title again, a second RSEQ team will be granted entry.
