2010 Women’s Soccer All Canadians
(Edmonton – November 9, 2010) The Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) proudly announced the CCAA Women's Soccer All Canadians who are being recognized at the 2010 Big Kahuna CCAA Soccer Championships All Canadian Awards Banquet hosted by NAIT in Edmonton.
Each award recipient is selected by their individual conference based on their performance and contribution to both their sport and their team.
Kelly Avalos of Algonquin College is team captain who led her team to an undefeated regular season.
Ashley Dixon of Mount Royal University was one of the team’s captains for this season; this is her third time being listed on the All-Canadian team.
Gillian Doubleday of Mount Royal University is her school’s all-time goal scorer; her season highlight was firing 5 goals in one game.
Bronte Fitzsimmons of Vancouver Island University is considered her team’s top player, and was ranked second in league scoring this season.
Marie-Christine Gauthier of Collège François-Xavier-Garneau is a Quebec All-Star and a central part of her team’s success this year.
Sabrina Henry of Seneca College earned many awards during her four years playing for the Sting, including last year’s team MVP.
Leanne Kadatz of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology is a leading scorer for her league, and a fantastic leader both on and off the field.
Alexa Kennedy of the University of British Columbia Okanagan worked hard on the field and it paid off – she is her league’s leading women’s scorer this year.
Marika McKenzie of University of King`s College played every minute of every game this season, making her a force to be reckoned with in the league.
Connie Tamburello of Humber College has accomplished much in her five years on the pitch for Humber; she is the second leading scorer in Humber women’s soccer history.
Karina Sisti of Dawson College has played three years for the Blues. She was a starter in her first year and now serves as team captain.
