CCAA Women's Soccer Athletes of the Month

November 9, 2009--The Canadian Colleges Athletic Association announced today the CCAA Soccer Athletes of the Month for October. The CCAA Athlete of the Month program recognizes student-athletes for their outstanding event performance and athletic accomplishments during that month.

Awards are presented to one male and one female student-athlete in each conference participating in the CCAA Soccer; the five conferences are Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association (ACAA), Fédération québécoise du sport étudiant (FQSE) Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA), Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and British Columbia Colleges Athletic Association (BCCAA).

Loren_Lidin_100From British Columbia:
Keeper, Loren Lidin is in her third year of the Business Program at Langara College.  Loren backstopped the Falcons to an undefeated regular season record, including 3 wins and 1 tie in the month of October.  Lidin leads all BCCAA keepers with a 0.59 goals against average and four shut outs and was named; CCAA All Canadian,  BCCAA Player of the Year, BCCAA 1st Team All-Star, BCCAA Athlete of the Week.

Samantha_Vockeroth_100From Alberta:
Red Deer College’s, Samantha Vockeroth is in her fourth year of the Bachelor of Education Program.   Team Captain and sweeper for the Queens, Samantha is known as one of the fastest players in the league.  Vockeroth’s passionate and dominating play this season has earned her a number of awards and accolades:  CCAA All Canadian, ACAC South All Star team, ACAC Female Athlete of the Week and Red Deer College Athlete of the Week.

Emily-Gillet_100From Ontario:
Emily  is a second year General Arts Student at Fanshawe College.   This second year keeper played an integral part in Fanshawe capturing the OCAA title.  Showing great leadership and determination battling through the flu,  Gillet was named top goalkeeper at Provincials,  recording 3 consecutive shutouts . During the month of October the Falcons record was 4-0-0 in regular season giving up one goal against.  Emily won 3 of these games and recorded  2 shutouts.

Lisa_Marie_Pelletier100From Quebec:
Forward Lisa-Marie Pelletier is from Collège Lionel-Groulx.   Assistant Captain and leading scorer for the Nordiques,  Lisa-Marie is well respected amongst her  teammates.  Pelletier is often the player that bridges the means of communication between coaches and players   She is a role model on and off the field, displaying the discipline and dedication needed when combining academics and athletics.

Breagh_MacDonald_100From the Atlantic:
Third  year keeper, Breagh MacDonaldis in the Bachelor of Arts Program at Mount Saint Vincent University.  Breagh was at her best during “Big Game” tests making several key saves against opponents enroute to 4 shutouts  in the last four games of the season.  Combined with a solid defensive effort, MacDonald continued her streak into playoffs and once again proved difficult to score on in both the semi-final and the ACAA final allowing the Mystics to protect their one-goal lead and win the Championship.
