2009 CCAA Women's Soccer Player of the Year

Langara College’s, Loren Liden is the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association 2009 Women’s Soccer Player of the Year.

 

Third year keeper and team leader for the Falcons, Loren had a stellar season posting a .59 goals against average,  leading the league with four shutouts and never surrendering more than one goal a game in league play.  For her outstanding performance this season she has also been named; CCAA All Canadian, CCAA Athlete of the Month, BCCAA Player of the Year, BCCAA 1st Team All-Star and BCCAA Athlete of the Week.

“’Loren is very competitive and extremely driven to succeed”, states Langara Falcons head coach, Ryan Birt.  “She pushes herself to be the best she can be and sets difficult yet attainable goals.  Loren has really become a leader this year within our group. She has lead by example through her hard work at training. The way she prepares for games and through her constant chat with the team and team-mates reminding them of what type of sacrifices it took to win a National Championship last year.”

Loren shared her passion for the sport by volunteering with the 2008 Danone Nations Cup program, which is an identification and skills camp for boys and girls under the age of 12.

Player of the Year recipients receive a CCAA customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet.
