Humber is Waiting for CCAA’s Elite in Women’s Soccer

wsc(Cornwall, ON) 'Canada, we are waiting for you’ is the theme at Humber College in Etobicoke, Ontario, host of the 2009 Big Kahuna/adidas CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship. With a 3rd place finish in last year’s championship, Humber College will look to take that next step when the top women’s soccer teams from across the CCAA gather at Humber. The action begins November 4th and will conclude with the championship game on November 7th, 2009.

The season has yet to begin so last year’s performances are the only indicators for what could happen this year.

“This year’s Championships will be very exciting. The top 4 teams from last year will have some turnovers but should still have veteran players who have experience playing at National Championships. If key players like Snelling and Corlazzoli of Langara, Newman and Duncan of TRU, Szcerbakow and Moreno of Humber, and Cyr and Durete of FX Garneau are returning, you could bet to see these teams back at the top this season,” CCAA National Women’s Soccer Convenor, Marlene Ford.

Although last year’s provincial champions will be tough again this year, counting out other teams like Mount Royal who finished the season 2nd in CCAA Rankings, Seneca who finished 5th, and Durham 9th would be a mistake, not to mention other teams that have added new talent to their roster this off season.

Humber has been an outstanding host of CCAA National Championships in the past and according to Doug Fox, Athletic Director at Humber College, this year will be no different.

“Our hosting committee is looking forward to hosting the women's Nationals. After Thompson River raised the bar with an excellent venue last year, we are concentrating all our efforts to make this the most exciting championship ever. Canada, ‘we are waiting for you’ has been our early theme and truly we can't wait for the Championships to begin,” Doug Fox, Athletic Director, Humber College.

By the time the 2009 Big Kahuna/adidas CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championships arrive, Humber will have their chance to win a CCAA Championship on home turf and their wait will be over.
