Second-year power hitter Tanisha Marcelle put on an exceptional show of talent this weekend, helping the Camosun College Chargers roll into the second half of the 2009-10 BCCAA season with a double header win. Camosun took hosts - the Douglas College Royals to five sets on Friday night winning 25-20, 17-25, 25-19, 22-25, 15-12. On Saturday, the Chargers blasted past the Royals to win in three straight (25-21, 25-21, 25-22). The offensive standout from Spectrum Community School in Victoria scored a whopping 36 kills over the eight games played, translating into a kill percentage of over 40% and an average of 4.5 kills per game. Tanisha also chipped in 6 aces, 1 block and 21 digs to secure Camosun’s first pair of wins for 2010. “Although every player displayed a high degree of execution this weekend, Tanisha’s performance was phenomenal,” commented Head Coach Alison Hitesman. “We are playing incredibly well as a team and set to take on UFV on the January 23-24 weekend.” |
NAME: Hardeep Braich Returning for his second year at Langara, Hardeep has asserted himself as one of Langara's on court leaders. His work ethic, passion for the game, and desire to learn are second to none and have helped him develop into a great player. Friday : Langara 81 Camosun 58
• Langara played host to the Camosun College Chargers to commence second semester play in the BCCAA this past weekend. Langara got off to a quick start and had established a 19 point lead at half time. Hardeep was an integral part of the quick start with 12 points in the first half, going 3 for 3 from the 3pt. line. The Falcons would continue to play well and earn the victory over the Chargers. Hardeep ended up with 18 points, going perfect from the 3pt. line, and chipping in with 3 rebounds.
Saturday : Langara 70 Camosun 57
• The second game of the back to back against Camosun saw Langara once again jump out to an early lead . Hardeep had another great game for the Falcons with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assistst. For the weekend Hardeep shot 58% from the field, 60% from the 3 pt. line, and 82% from the free throw line.
