Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year

trevor_williams_100 The 2010 CCAA Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year is Trevor Williams, from Dawson College.

Trevor has guided the Blues to a solid and successful season capturing the FQSE crown and posting a season record of 17-3.  Though their season record stayed the same as the previous year, the team as a whole improved.    Areas of improvement included strengthening the Blues defensive side of the game.

Coach Williams’s goals are clear; when you develop better basketball players and better students, you will develop better people in the process.  Williams offers his full support to any student-athlete who wishes to play and study at a higher level in order to achieve their goals.  Trevor enforces the mandatory study hall for student-athletes twice a week.

Williams is a level three certified Coach whose love of the game and dedication to his athletes often creates bonds with that are maintained even after graduation.  He takes pride in encouraging players to become coaches through the CCAA Female Apprentice Program and at summer camps.

For the last fifteen years, Williams has run the “Trevor Williams Basketball Academy – Summer Camp”, for eight weeks during the summer.  He is also involved with the Bluehounds Basketball summer traveling team and a lunchtime and afterschool basketball program with local elementary schools.

The Blues will be going for gold at the 2010 CCAA National Basketball Championship hosted by University of British Columbia Okanagan, March 18-20, 2010.

Coach of the Year recipients receive a CCAA customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring supplier of the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet.

The Canadian Colleges Athletic Association is a national sport organization that enriches the lives of student-athletes through intercollegiate competition
