CCAAmedalThe Canadian Colleges Athletic Association holds national championships each year in four sports: Soccer, Badminton, Volleyball, Basketball and open championships in golf, and cross-country running. The earliest national championship competitions were held in 1975, when teams competed for country honours in basketball and hockey. National championships were held for volleyball in 1979, badminton in 1982 and finally soccer in 1983.

This year, there are 49 men's soccer teams vying for the 2008 CCAA National Soccer Championship title, and 47 women's soccer teams. Basketball has 61 men's teams and 57 women's teams competing for their respective CCAA National Championship. There are 59 women's volleyball teams and 50 men's volleyball teams fighting to take home this year's CCAA National Volleyball Championship. Badminton will see 25 member-institutions competing, while there will be 37 institutions competing in Golf and 35 competing in Cross Country Running.
