Two CCAA Member Conferences Announce New Names

Pacwest200September 15, 2011 – Two of the CCAA’s regional member conferences have announced changes to their association’s names.

ACAA100The BCCAA (British Columbia Colleges Athletic Association) is now the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST). The new name better represents the association’s 14 member institutions, which includes both colleges and universities located in B.C. The Association has also revealed a new logo.

“We feel the PACWEST name does an excellent job of identifying who we are and what we do and will give us a significant advantage as we implement our marketing plans,” said Bruce Hunter, president of PACWEST.

In August 2011, the ACAA approved a motion to change their name from the Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association to the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association. The new name reflects recent changes made to the CCAA’s name, and better reflects the diversity of the ACAA’s nine member institutions, which consists of colleges and universities located in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and P.E.I. The ACAA’s logo will remain the same.

The CCAA changed its name to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association effective August 2011.
