CCAA Welcomes New Member Ambrose University College
July 19, 2011 - The CCAA has added yet another member school to its roster. Ambrose University College of Calgary, Alta. has joined the CCAA as an associate member.
The Ambrose University College Lions’ men and women’s futsal teams will compete in the ACAC (Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference) during the upcoming 2011/12 season. The school’s application was approved at the CCAA’s annual general meeting in June.
“The ACAC is excited about the addition of Ambrose,” said Alan Rogan, ACAC president. “We’re looking forward to their involvement in the upcoming season and in the years to come.”
The school’s men and women’s basketball and volleyball teams currently compete in the ACAL (Alberta Colleges Athletic League) which is not affiliated with the CCAA. However Ambrose University College president Howard Wilson has plans to build the athletics program to include CCAA national championship sports at their institution in the near future.
“We are dedicated to improving the quality and quantity of athletic competition at Ambrose,” said Wilson. “We believe that the competitive athletic program strengthens the overall mission of our school.”
Ambrose University College was founded in 1921 as the Calgary Bible Institute. It offers bachelor of arts and science as well as seminary degrees to a student body of approximately 650 students.
