CCAA Unveils New Trophies and Medals
(Cornwall, Ont - October 18, 2010) – The Canadian Colleges Athletics Association has unveiled new trophies and medals for the 2010-2011 awards season. The awards will be presented to first, second and third-place teams at national championships and will be theirs to keep. All new awards feature the new CCAA logo.
Gold, silver and bronze trophies will be presented to the top three finishing teams at the following CCAA national championship:
- Men and women’s basketball
- Men and women’s golf
- Men and women’s soccer
- Men and women’s volleyball
- Men and women’s singles and doubles badminton
- Mixed badminton
All trophies will be kept by the winners, allowing schools to display their accomplishments for years to come. The trophies have a base of solid Rosewood and are offset with the new CCAA logo leaf graphic. Gold trophies measure 20” high, silver trophies 16” high and bronze trophies 12” high.
Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to individuals on the top three finishing teams at CCAA national championship tournaments for men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, and soccer. Medals will also be awarded to individuals of the top three teams competing in golf, cross-country running and badminton national championship tournaments.
The medals will be awarded to players, coaches and support staff. An exception to this rule is badminton; gold medals are awarded to champions and their coaches, while silver and bronze medals are awarded to athletes only.
The CCAA has also created new banners, which will be distributed to all CCAA member schools. Additional banners will be provided to host schools and the national championship teams.
