QSSF Welcomes New Executive Director

AlainRoyMontréal, June 22, 2009 – Yves Paquette, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Quebec Student Sports Federation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Alain Roy as Executive Director. For the last five years, Alain Roy has served as director of the Federation's school programs.

In addition to heading up daily operations in the school sector, Roy has managed a number of major issues such as implementing provincial healthy lifestyles programs, funding these programs, and ensuring member relations and services as well as being deeply involved in developing the strategic plan that will guide the Federation over the next few years.

"Alain Roy has demonstrated beyond any doubt that he plays a key role on our team," stated Paquette. "While his experience within our organization and grasp of the main issues facing student sports are significant assets, he also has other qualities, such as leadership and an ability to rally and mobilize a work team, which are just as important in successfully guiding an organization as large and diversified as the Quebec Student Sports Federation."

For his part, Roy intends to consolidate the Federation's status wherever the organization plays a role. "All of us felt quite proud at the end of 2007–2008 when we had achieved peak participation in our various programs. I want to build on this pride by taking us to new heights," stated Roy.

In order to achieve these objectives, the new executive director intends to continue working closely with the Federation's current partners and to use the new strategic plan as a springboard to gain an even stronger position for the organization in the world of Quebec schools and sports. Roy also wants to keep working to demonstrate that student sports play a fundamental role in boosting scholastic achievement, acquiring healthy lifestyles, and developing sports in Quebec. The Federation's funding and organizational effectiveness, visibility, and stature figure prominently among the new executive director's priorities.
