2008-2009 CCAA Male Athlete of the Year
Capilano University’s, Milad Rahmati has been named this year’s Male Athlete of the Year Across All CCAA Sports by the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA).
A fourth year midfielder for the Capilano Blues Soccer team, Milad is a natural goal scorer who can control the ball exceptionally well. According to coach Paul Dailly, “Milad is very creative with the ball, and works very hard on the field. It is because of his creativity on the field, that has provided the team with many scoring opportunities this year. He has not only proven himself to be an outstanding goal scorer, but also as a team leader.”
Rahmati’s offensive talent led him to a first place tie in the BCCAA scoring race with 13 goals in fourteen games, and guided his team to a 13-1 season record. His scoring abilities were also major factor as the Blues captured gold at the BCCAA Provincials and the CCAA National Championships.
His outstanding skills and achievements have earned him numerous athletic awards and acclamations for 2008-2009 season, including BCCAA Athlete of the Week, BCCAA 1st Team All-Star, BCCAA Provincial Champion and Tournament MVP, CCAA National Champion and National Championship MVP.
Milad's leadership, commitment and hard work demonstrate itself both on and off the pitch. While he is not studying, Milad teaches young players at the Capilano University Summer Sports Camps, and assists the Blues in providing free soccer clinics to elementary schools.
The Canadian Colleges Athletic Association is a national sport organization that enriches the lives of student-athletes through intercollegiate competition.
