UBCO and Fanshawe presented with MIP Elite and Gold Awards
(Cornwall, ON – June 15th, 2009) This year’s Marketing Incentive Program (MIP) was record breaking as the total was pushed to over $1 Million with a total of 59 CCAA member institutions participating. Canadian Colleges Athletic Association member institutions benefit from the MIP program through rebates and though the MIP ‘Elite’ and ‘Gold’ Awards and the MIP Sweepstakes. Each institution who participates in the MIP is given a number of ballots depending on the amount of their purchases which are then entered in a draw for prizes provided by the corporate partners of the MIP. These prizes were awarded on Monday June 9th, 2009.
The MIP Elite Award is awarded to the institution that has purchased the largest dollar amount from the corporate MIP partners. With total purchases of $101,854.15, the University of British Columbia Okanagan (BCCAA) took home the MIP Elite Award. With the second largest purchase the MIP Gold Award is presented. Fanshawe College (OCAA) was awarded the Gold Award for having purchases totaling $92,879.05. Both institutions were major contributors to 2008-09 and were honoured at the 2009 CCAA AGM Awards Banquet in Edmonton on June 8th.
The Marketing Incentive Program was created to combine the buying power of the CCAA and its institutions to benefit the member institutions through rebates and to provide the CCAA with funds to execute new marketing initiatives that in turn benefit the CCAA institutions. Spalding, Black Knight, Big Kahuna, Baden, and Sportag should all be recognized as major contributors to the success of the MIP and CCAA marketing initiatives. “I am a strong believer in the MIP program. It is a brilliant way for members to access excellent pricing for products they need, often these products and services can be purchased locally –which is another need for many CCAA members. We all get a great price because of our collective volume. The vendor “wins” by selling lots of product (even thought their margin is reduced), the member “wins” by getting a good price, and the CCAA “wins” by being able to put its portion of the rebate directly back into CCAA marketing programs and services AND by being able to show other potential MIP partners the real economic value of becoming an MIP partner. I urge all members to participate to whatever level they can. Most years our program doesn’t have a large purchasing budget. This past year, with our new brand and a capital project we were fortunate to be the winners of the Elite Award and very proud to support our MIP partners,” Rob Johnson, Athletic Director, University of British Columbia Okanagan.
The CCAA thanks all member institutions who participated in the 2008-2009 Marketing Incentive Program. Next year presents another opportunity for those who missed out on this great opportunity and the CCAA encourages all institutions to take advantage of the great pricing and benefits that come along with participating in the Marketing Incentive Program.
Upon presenting both the MIP Elite and MIP Gold awards, the remaining prize packages were awarded in the MIP Sweepstakes.
