CCAA Players Join Men’s National Volleyball Team Camp

CanadianTeamMay 10, 2011 - Thirteen former and current CCAA players are among those taking part in Canada’s national men’s volleyball camp.

 

 

Teams will begin to take shape this month to determine the squad for this August’s World University Games in China.
Forty-three players are currently at a Canadian men’s national volleyball team training camp being held at the squad’s training base at the Centre Sportif in Gatineau. The camp officially started on Sunday and will continue until Thursday.
Former and former CCAA players include:
Justin Boudreault, Cégep de Limoilou Titans. Former CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship second team all-star
Mark Broome, University of British Columbia Heat.
Andre Brown, Humber College Hawks. Current OCAA Championship All Star, Player of the Game during the 2011 CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship tournament.
Jean-Paul Carriere, Cegep de Limoilou Titans. Current CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship first team all-star
Jason DeRocco, Mount Royal Cougars. Former CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship first team all-star.
John Galloway, Camosun College. Former CCAA-SIRC Academic All-Canadian.
Chris Hoag, Sherbrooke; - Cegep de Sherbrooke Volontaires. Former CCAA Men’s Volleyball All-Canadian.
Pierre-Alexis Lapointe, Cegep de Limoilou Titans. Former CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship first team all-star.
Joshua Neadow, Trent University Excalibur.
Devon Parkinson, Camosun College Chargers. Former Camosun Men’s Volleyball rookie of the year.
Jonathan Sloane, Algonquin College Thunder.
Jonathan Whitton, King’s University College Eagles, Former CCAA-SIRC Academic All-Canadian.
The main objective of this week`s camp is to select the national B team / World University Games team that will train throughout the summer and eventually compete at the Universiade. This camp is also an opportunity for athletes to be evaluated for consideration for the Senior A Team as well.

More than 40 players are currently at a Canadian men’s national volleyball team training camp being held at the squad’s training base at the Centre Sportif in Gatineau. The camp officially started on Sunday, May 8 and will continue until Thursday, May 12, 2011.
