CCAA Men's Volleyball Players of the Month
(Cornwall, ON - December 7, 2010) The Canadian Colleges Athletic Association has listed the CCAA Volleyball Athletes of the Month for November. The CCAA Athlete of the Month program recognizes student-athletes for their outstanding event performance and athletic accomplishments during that month.
The distinction is bestowed upon one male and one female student-athlete in each conference participating in the CCAA Volleyball; the five conferences are the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) the Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association (ACAA), the British Columbia Colleges Athletic Association (BCCAA), the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) and the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ).
ACAC:
Scott Lesher, Briercrest College Clippers
Scott Lesher plays left side and serves as team captain of the Briercrest College Clippers; it is his third year with the team. He currently leads the team in kills, but has been recognized as a player who contributes to all aspects of the game. Off the court, he is working towards a bachelor in business.
ACAA:
Carl Settle, New Brunswick-Saint John
Carl Settle is in his 5th year with the University of New Brunswick-Saint John Seawolves. The defending ACAA championship team is currently undefeated, thanks in part to Settle and his contributions as setter. Described as an excellent team leader who's always at his best, he averages 30 assists/game. He is completing a bachelor of arts.
BCCAA:
Greg Niemantsverdriet, UBC Okanagan
With this month's stellar performance, Greg Niemantsverdriet has proven himself to be one of the league's top performers. He has acheived high league rankings in service aces, kills, digs and overall offensive scoring, helping to lead the Okanagan Heat to the top of the BCCAA league. The second-year outside hitter is studying arts.
OCAA:
Terrel Bramwell, Humber College
Last year Terrel Bramwell of Humber College led the Hawks to a provincial gold medal and a fourth-place national finish. This year looks equally promising; on November 30 Bramwell put up a game-high 32 kills, seven acess and one block for a total of 40 offensive points to break the all-time OCAA single game record for points in a game. He is studying health and fitness
RSEQ:
Nicolas Hoag, Cégep de Sherbrooke
Nicolas Hoag is in the midst of his second year playing for the Cégep de Sherbrooke Volontaires. Hoag has racked up impressive statistics during the month of November, successfully completing 56% of kills, 67% of receptions and 60% of all plays. He is studying social science administration.
Congratulations to all athletes on their performances this month!
