CCAA Men's Soccer Athletes of the Month
(Cornwall, ON - November 5, 2010) The Canadian Colleges Athletic Association announced today the CCAA Soccer Athletes of the Month for October. The CCAA Athlete of the Month program recognizes student-athletes for their outstanding event performance and athletic accomplishments during that month.
Awards are presented to one male and one male student-athlete in each conference participating in the CCAA Soccer; the five conferences are Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC), Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association (ACAA), British Columbia Colleges Athletic Association (BCCAA), Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA), and Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ).
ACAC:
Thiago Silva, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology
Thiago Silva is a second-year business administration student at NAIT. His midfield play has been a strong influence on the Ooks. Silva’s performance is being recognized not only for the goals he scored, but also for the points he set up for his fellow team members.
ACAA:
Brendan Parsley, University of King’s College
Brendan Parsley is a history major who has been the heart of the Blue Devils’ attack in every game this season. Now in his third year with the team, he had an inspired season with 5 assists and 7 goals, 2 of which were game-winning points.
BCCAA:
Reynold Stewart, Douglas College
Forward Reynold Stewart is a third-year student with the Douglas College Royals. Reynold is a versatile player that has the ability to play three different positions at an exceptional level. This BCCAA All-Star and male Soccer Player of the Year is a leader on the field and off.
OCAA:
Marcelo Capozzolo, Humber College
Marcello is a third-year Tourism student who just led the Hawks to an OCAA championship win. A standout in defense, his play allowed his teammates to move up and score twice in the last 9 minutes of the winning game, and as a result was named Tournament MVP.
RSEQ:
Patrice Dion, Collège François-Xavier-Garneau
Striker Patrice Dion was name MVP for both his team and his league this year. He is a hard-working player who has racked up 15 goals, six assists and has shown leadership and enthusiasm for team play. This is his third year playing for the Elans.
