CCAA Men's Soccer Athletes of the Month

November 9, 2009--The Canadian Colleges Athletic Association announced today the CCAA Soccer Athletes of the Month for October. The CCAA Athlete of the Month program recognizes student-athletes for their outstanding event performance and athletic accomplishments during that month.


Awards are presented to one male and one female student-athlete in each conference participating in the CCAA Soccer; the five conferences are Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association (ACAA), Fédération québécoise du sport étudiant (FQSE) Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA), Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and British Columbia Colleges Athletic Association (BCCAA).


Douglas_College_Reynold_Stewart_100From British Columbia:
Mid-Fielder, Reynold Stewart is a second year student with the Douglas College Royals.   Reynold  is  a versatile player that has the ability to play three different positions at an exceptional level.  He is a leader on and off the field putting team success above individual success.   BCCAA league leading scorer, Reynold has been named; CCAA All-Canadian , BCCAA 1st Team All – Star and BCCA Championship MVP.

Kyle-Yamada_100From Alberta:
Mount Royal University’s , Kyle Yamada, is in his third year of the Business Program.   Striker and Midfielder for the Cougars, Yamada scored 6 goals in 9 games and tied for 5th in ACAC league scoring.    During the ACAC Championship Kyle continued to excel, scoring the game winning goal in overtime in the quarterfinals, adding a marker in the semi final game  and scoring one of the four goals in penalty kicks to give his Cougars the 2-1 overtime win and the ACAC Gold Medal. Kyle is a role model that is respected by his teammates and coaching staff.  His positive attitude and work ethic has spread throughout the Cougars squad.

Sean_Pound_100From Ontario:
Sean Pound is a fourth year Defender at Algonquin College.  Pound is known for his intensity and fairplay.  A quiet leader for the Thunder, Sean is a very technically sound player that has a good understanding of the game and his position.  Sean’s solid play helped lead the Thunder to their sixth OCAA title.

Maxime_Leconte100From Quebec:
Maxime Leconte, is a Midfielder with Collège Lionel-Groulx.  Captain for the Nordiques, Maxime provides extraordinary leadership.  A great competitor, Leconte has contributed 10 assists and is an intimidating defensive player.  Maxime takes his role as captain seriously and is a role model on and off the field who shows unconditional support for teammates.

Tommy_Flemming_100From the Atlantic:
Second year, Tommy Fleming is a Construction Technology student at Holland College.  Midfield or Full back for the Hurricanes, Tommy has propelled his team to their first ever conference championship.  Tommy is an ACAA 1st Team All Star and was instrumental in pushing the surging “Canes” to the Title.  In the Championship Tommy played stellar defense and scored one of the overtime penalty kicks in the semi-final as well as the insurance marker in the 2-0 final.
