CCAA Men’s Soccer Will Kick Into Action at Seneca College
(Cornwall, ON) As the student-athletes spend their summers training and preparing for the upcoming season, Seneca College in Toronto, Ontario is also hard at work preparing to host the 2009 Big Kahuna/adidas CCAA Men’s Soccer National Championships. The action will get underway Wednesday, November 4th with the national champions being crowned November 7th, 2009.
The top men’s soccer teams from across the CCAA will be filtering into Toronto to put their best foot forward in efforts to bring home the 2009 Championship. As the host, Seneca College will be waiting anxiously.
"Preparations for the 2009 Big Kahuna/adidas CCAA Men’s Soccer National Championships are now in full swing. The host committee is well ahead of schedule and is very excited about the event. From sponsorship, to the playing facility, to the host hotel, to hospitality and all the efforts to provide the student-athletes, coaches and administrators with a first class event, Seneca will be ready to welcome Canada's best to Toronto." Linda Stapleton, Seneca College Director, Sport & Recreation.
The hype has carried over from last year’s National Championship and Ontario’s Algonquin College will look to regain their 2006 title as National Champions, a title they came so close to regaining in 2007 and 2008, winning silver medals in each of those years. In last year’s championship British Columbia’s Capilano University mounted a remarkable 2nd half comeback scoring 5 goals to edge out the returning finalist Algonquin College. With at least 10 players returning from last year and new talent on the way, Capilano will have the skill and experience to push for another national title.
“The soccer season is only a couple of months away and all teams will be hoping that they can put a team together to become the National champions. After last season’s championship game I know BC and Ontario will be strong this year. With Ontario having the host plus their Ontario representative they will make both pools tough. Don’t count out the other 3 teams from Quebec, Alberta and the Maritimes as they all can challenge at any given time. This year’s Nationals will bring out the best from everyone.” Murray Orvis, CCAA Men’s National Soccer Convenor.
A big thank you to Big Kahuna/adidas for their continued support of the CCAA as Title Sponsors of the 2009 Big Kahuna/adidas CCAA Men’s Soccer National Championships. Big Kahuna is the Preferred Retailer of the CCAA along with adidas who is the Official Soccer Ball Supplier of the CCAA.
