TRU welcomes CCAA’s top soccer teams

(Cornwall, Ont. – November 2, 2008) Thompson River University (TRU) is host to the 2008 Big Kahuna/adidas Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) National Soccer Championships which will bring together and showcase the talents of Canada’s top collegiate soccer teams. Soccer fans will be treated to some of the finest play at Hillside Stadium, in Kamloops BC from November 5-8, 2008.

 

“Our committee has been working diligently over the past few months gearing up for this event,” says Ken Olynyk, the Athletic Director at Thompson Rivers University.  “This will give us a chance to show the rest of the country what a fabulous campus and facility we have.  We are proud to be hosting this along with the City of Kamloops".

The 2008 Big Kahuna/adidas CCAA National Soccer Championships features the country’s top six women’s and six men’s teams who will compete for CCAA Soccer supremacy and the right to call themselves national champions.

Men’s Draw

Collège François-Xavier-Garneau – Québec (QSSF)
Algonquin College – Ottawa (OCAA)
Concordia University College  – Edmonton (ACAC)
Capilano University – North Vancouver (BCCAA)
University of King’s College  –  Halifax (ACAA)
Thompson Rivers University  – Kamloops (BCCAA)

The 5-day event begins on Tuesday, November 4th with the CCAA All Canadian Awards Banquet beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the CAC Grand Hall at the Thompson River University . The guest speaker will be John Antulov, a former Vancouver Whitecap and Simon Fraser University player who is now the co-head coach of the TRU WolfPack Men’s Soccer Team.

The competition then kicks off on Wednesday, November 5th and runs through Saturday, November 8th. All games will be played at Hillside Turf, except for the two classification games which will be played on the Grass Bowl.
