University of New Brunswick - Saint John to Host 2013 CCAA Men's Soccer National Championship
June 14 2012 - The UNB-Saint John Seawolves of Saint John, N.B. are confirmed to host the 2013 CCAA Men's Soccer National Championship.
The four-day event will take place November 6 - 9, 2013 at UNB-Saint John's Canada Games Stadium, which recently received a $7-million renovation and features artificial turf, state-of-the-art lighting and grandstanding seating. The UNB-SJ Seawolves' men's soccer team have been a perennial contender in the ACAA, representing their conference at five CCAA national championships in the past 10 years.
"I'm confident we'll represent the ACAA well," says UNB-Saint John athletics director David Munro, "Either as the host institution or as 2013 ACAA champions."
UNB-Saint John will partner with UNB Associated Alumni, Soccer NB, Destination Saint John and local media to promote the championship. The institution recently hosted the 2011 CCAA Women's Volleyball National Championship, as well as the 2003 CCAA Badminton National Championship.
The 2012 CCAA Men's Soccer National Championship will be hosted by the Douglas Royals in New Westminster, B.C. November 7-10, 2012.
Previously held as a six-team format, it will be the first time a new 8-team competitive format is used. The participating teams will include five conference champions, the host institution and two wildcards.
