January 13, 2012 – The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association has confirmed Cégep John Abbott College as host of the 2013 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship.

The national championship tournament will take place March 14-16, 2013 in Sainte Anne de Bellevue, Que.

Eight of Canada’s top squads will compete in the event, and as hosts the John Abbott Islanders are guaranteed a berth.

“The sports and recreation department of John Abbott College is very excited to host a national championship,” says Steve Shaw, head of athletics.  “We have a long history of hosting provincial, national and international events, and they have all been very successful.”

Cégep John Abbott College previously hosted CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championships in 1990 and 1996. Their athletic facilities will undergo revitalization in preparation for the tournament.
