UNBC Timberwolves Capture Their First Ever CCAA Championship Title
Entering the CCAA Championship as the #1 ranked team in the nation, the UNBC Timberwolves lived up to expectation.
Battling the host SAIT Trojans in the gold medal game of the 2010 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship would have been an overwhelming experience for most, but not for UNBC.
With a suffocating defense and an unstoppable guard leading the offensive rush, the Timberwolves proved to be too powerful for the host SAIT Trojans. With bus loads of UNBC faithful in the crowd, cheering and hammering their war drums, the Timberwolves played with controlled emotion leading to their 96-63 victory, going on to win their first CCAA championship in school history.
Iderbir Gill, a fourth-year guard at UNBC kept it short and sweet during post-game interviews, saying “There’s no better feeling than this”.
Gill scored 32 points in the gold medal game for the T-Wolves, on route to solidifying himself as the tournament MVP after a more than impressive CCAA championship outing, where he averaged over 20 points per game and led his team to their first ever CCAA championship title.
