CCAA Men's Basketball Athletes of the Month
The Canadian Colleges Athletic Association announced today the CCAA Men's Basketball Athletes of the Month for February.
The CCAA Athlete of the Month program recognizes student-athletes for their outstanding event performance and athletic accomplishments during that month. Awards are presented to one male and one female student-athlete in each conference participating in the CCAA Volleyball; the five conferences are Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association (ACAA), Quebec Student Sports Federation (QSSF), Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA), Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and British Columbia Colleges’ Athletic Association (BCCAA).
From British Columbia:
Inderbir Gill is a student-athlete at the University of Northern British Columbia in the Business program. Gill has been an important factor in the Timberwolves successful season. In their first game at the BCCAA Championships, Inderbir notched a game high 27 points and added 7 rebounds and 3 assists. In the championship game Inderbir posted 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists in a gold medal winning performance. For his efforts, Gill was named MVP of the BCCAA Men's Provincial Championship.
From Alberta:
Brett Kobe, is enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts - Criminal Justice program at Mount Royal University. Brett Kobe helped lead the Cougars to a 7-1 record over the month of February which included a pair of playoff wins against the Lakeland Rustlers to advance to the ACAC Final Four Championship. Kobe, a fifth-year forward, averaged 15.5 points per game and 9.9 rebounds per game during that span, shooting 65 % from the floor – as well as collecting four double-doubles.
From Ontario:
J.R. Bailey, is a fifth year Centre and Broadcast Journalism student-athlete at Humber College. JR is an impact player and the Hawks top player, who continues to dominate especially in big games. Bailey has a season point average: 13.58 points per game and in the last 4 games: 21.5 points per game. A leader on and off the court, he has a sense of fair play as indicated in the last two games by committing only a single foul in each game.
From Quebec:
Yann Charles is a third year forward at Champlain St.Lambert College. For the Cavaliers, Yann averages 22 points; 6.25 rebounds; 0.81 assists; 0.75 steals and 33.27 minutes per game. He is a 4 time High Scorer and 4 time High Rebounder in regular season conference play. Yann is a role model on and off the court. His dedication and selfless behavior contributes to the success of his teammates and Basketball community.
From the Atlantic:
From Mount Saint Vincent University, Adam Jewkes, is a fourth year student-athlete. As one of MSVU's tri-captain, Adam has been a solid contributor for the Mystics providing excellent leadership both on and off the court. Jewkes is a consistent player, a clutch shooter and leading scorer on the team. Adam averages 15.3 points; 2.8 rebounds; 2.7 assists per game and shoots 37% 3 point shot, while playing only 26 minutes per game.
