Brett_Kobe_100  Brett Kobe from Mount Royal University is the winner of the 2010 CCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Year.

Brett is Captain and a fifth year forward for the Cougars.  Kobe led the ACAC conference in rebounding with 10.45 rebounds per game, ranked second in field goal percentage at 59 %, and was the fourth leading scorer in the south division, averaging 15.85 points per game during the season.  .  In addition to his high scoring efforts, Brett also has accumulated a team high 11 double-doubles, including a 29 point, 12 rebound performance against the Red Deer Kings.

Brett finishes his fifth and final year leaving a mark on the Cougars program.  He has been the team captain for the past four seasons, a strong student, and a leader on and off the court.  His efforts have been rewarded.  Kobe was named to the 2009-2010 ACAC First Team All Conference;  ACAC Male Basketball Player of the Year; four time ACAC All Conference Team Member and CTV Athlete of the Week in December.

In addition to his outstanding work on the court and in the classroom, Brett has been heavily involved as a mentor in a program with Catholic Family Services. The program pairs a youth, in need of friendship and a role model, with a Cougars men’s basketball student-athlete. The youth attends team practice once a week and gets to hang out with the guys, and once the practice is completed, Brett spends an additional hour with the youth afterwards – talking, providing leadership and being a friend.
