UNBC Geared Up For CN 2009 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship

(Cornwall, Ont. – March 12, 2009)  As the top men’s basketball teams in the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association make their way to the national championship site, the University of Northern British Columbia will be waiting to welcome them to the CN 2009 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship. The first game will be underway starting March 20th at 1pm with Mount Royal College taking on Algonquin College.

The CN 2009 CCAA Men’s National Basketball Championship features the top eight men’s basketball teams in Canada, seeding in the following order:

1) MSVU
2) Mount Royal
3) Humber
4) Champlain
5) UBC-O
6) Montmorency
7) Algonquin
8) UNBC

The CCAA All Canadian Awards Banquet will take place on Thursday March 19th, beginning at 6:45 pm at the Ramada Hotel. The competition will begin on the following day, the schedule is as follows:

Friday March 20th 

Game #1                1pm - MRC vs Algonquin
Game #2                3pm - Humber vs Montmorency
Game #3                6pm - Champlain vs UBC-O
Game #4                8pm - MSVU vs UNBC

Saturday March 21st

Game #5                1pm - loser game 1 vs loser game 2
Game #6                3pm - loser game 3 vs loser game 4
Game #7                6pm - winner game 1 vs winner game 2
Game #8                8pm - winner game 3 vs winner game 4

Sunday March 22nd

Game #9                10am - winner game 6 vs loser game 7
Game #10              12am - winner game 5 vs loser game 8
Game #11              2pm – loser game 5 vs loser game 6 (7th & 8th place)
Game #12              6pm – winner game 9 vs winner game 10 (Bronze Medal)
Game #13              8pm – winner game 7 vs winner game 8 (Gold Medal)

The Closing Ceremony and Awards Presentation will take place immediately following the final match.
