Cornwall, Ont. – March 20, 2009)  In his fourth year of studies, Mount Saint Vincent University’s, Jason Carlson, is the winner of the 2009 CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the year.

From his post position, Jason averages 23 MPG, 13.7 PPG, 9.8 RPG, guiding the Mystics to a perfect season record of  20-0 and a number one National Ranking.  Jason has taken 13 charges in 27 games, and as part of the best defensive team in the country, the Mystics have scored 1771 points and allowing only 1063 against.

One of the tri-captains for the Mystics, Jason provides excellent leadership both on and off the court and has been a mark of consistency throughout the season. The Mystics will be looking to better their last year’s silver place finish, at the CCAA Men’s Basketball Championships, being held at the University of Northern British Columbia, March 12 -14, 2009.

Jason contributes to his sport as a coach as well as donating his time at several basketball camps and organizing the Spring and Summer league at Mount Saint Vincent University.

Player of the Year recipients receive a CCAA customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet.
