(Cornwall, Ont. – March 20, 2009)  Coach Glenn and the Hawks’ have had a successful season this year with a record of 17-2, and capturing the OCAA Men’s Basketball Championship.  Early on, Darrell and his coaching staff identified areas of concern, with regards to the type of players needed to blend well with existing players, focusing on a team that could run offensive and defensive schemes in order to be successful. 

Shared scoring offence along with a commitment to defence is this team’s key to success.  The Hawks have the potential for five or six of their players scoring in double figures every game and Darrell continually challenges each player to be great on the defensive side of the ball.  The Humber Hawks will challenge, once again, at the CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championships, at the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George.

Coach Glenn’s ultimate coaching goal is to win a National Championship, however the goals and objectives leading up to the Nationals are just as important.  Darrell believes that success comes with the development on the court, with obvious things such as skill, improvement and teamwork,  but the ability to take a young man and guide and support him to become a successful person for life is paramount.  As a high school teacher and mentor, Darrell knows the value of education and continuously drives that into his players. 

Outside of the Hawks, Darrell is a well established Coach who has represented Canada at the Under 21 World Championships winning a Bronze Medal and Coached Team Canada at the World University Games in Bangkok Thailand.  In addition, he can also be found running a number of clinics for the Basketball Community.
