Cougars win gold at CN 2009 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship
(March 23, 2009) The CN 2009 CCAA Men's Basketball Championship was held in Prince George, British Columbia from March 20-22. Eight representative teams from British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic Canada, two wild card teams and the host the UNBC Timberwolves competed for the gold medal.
Three days of competition resulted in a victory for ACAC champions, the Mount Royal Cougars, with a 79-67 score against Champlain College (St. Lambert). The Algonquin Thunder team from the OCAA took home the bronze medal after battling it out with the University of Northern British Columbia (BCCAA) resulting in a final score of 116-105.
Final results:
Gold: Mount Royal Cougars
Silver: Champlain St. Lambert Cavaliers
Bronze: Algonquin College Thunder
4th place: University of Northern British Columbia
5th place: Mount St. Vincent
6th place: Humber College
7th place:Cégep Momorency
8th place:Univeristy of British Columbia - Okanagan
The CCAA All-Tournament Team Awards were announced and presented during the Closing Ceremony.
