Camosun Charger Claims Low Score at PACWEST Golf Tournament
September 23, 2011 - Camosun College Charger Jared Hundza claimed the top spot on the leaderboard this past weekend at the first PACWEST golf tournament of the season.
Hundza shot a lean two-day total of 139 (68/71) making him the top individual golfer of the tournament. Aaron Pauls from the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades placed second, shooting one stroke off the lead with a total of 140. His UFV teammate Mitch Lock and fifth-year Camoson veteran Kevin Walz tied for third with 144.
Kate Weir of the Douglas College Royals won the women’s individual title with a two round total of 162 (80-82). Kalli Gordon (77-86) of the VIU Mariners and Alana Kent (79-84) of the UBCO Heat were tied for second at 163. Jenn Woods of UBCO Heat was fourth at 164 (82-82) with Michaela Staller of the Douglas College Royals in fifth at 186 (93-93).
The UFV Cascades men's squad placed first in the team category with a total of 574 at the end of the two-day tournament hosted by Thompson Rivers University. The Camosun Chargers finished six strokes back in second while Capilano the University Blues placed third with 587.
