2009 CCAA Championship season swings into action at St. Clair College
(Cornwall, Ont. – April 30th, 2009) The 2009-2010 CCAA championship season will start off with a bang at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario as the Saints will be host to the 2009 PING CCAA Golf Open Championship. The three day tournament will begin October 13th at the beautiful Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor, designed by the award winning course designer Thomas McBroom in 2005.
The action will begin with the PING Skills Competition Tuesday morning before the practice round takes place to kick off the week. The Championship will feature over 100 of the top male and female collegiate golfers across Canada who will be taking on one of the Country’s best new public golf courses.
Dave Findlay, CPGA Head Professional at Ambassador is extremely excited to host this event. “Ambassador Golf Club is proud to host the 2009 Ping CCAA Golf Open Championships. We are looking forward to seeing the best in Canadian College golf and showcasing this fantastic venue to all of Canada.”
The fit for hosting the Championship is perfect with St. Clair College being home to the Professional Golf Management Program. The program plans to make use of the event as an educational learning tool as the students of this program will be significantly involved in the planning and operation of this event from start to finish.
“This will be our second time hosting this prestigious college golf championship and we are looking forward to building on our successes from 2005. We believe the Ambassador Golf Club is one of Canada’s premier golf destinations and we look forward to introducing all of the participants to one of the greatest cities, golf courses and colleges in Canada,” stated Kevin Corriveau, St. Clair Golf Coach and Professor of Golf Management.
“PING is proud to be the title sponsor for the 2009 PING CCAA Golf Open Championship. At PING we pride ourselves in being involved in the grass-roots of golf in Canada and feel that the CCAA athletes are a big part of the up and coming golfers in the country”, according to Carol Buckberrough, Office Manager at PING Canada.
Combine the Ambassador Golf Club designed by the designer of 7 of the top 50 golf courses in Canada (voted on by SCOREGolf Magazine), PING Canada, and the host team at St. Clair College, this year’s CCAA PING Golf Open Championship will be memorable for all involved.
