SAIT Trojans Runners Making Final Tune-Ups
October 21, 2011 - The SAIT Trojans cross-country running teams are holding on to their national rankings after positive results at the ACAC (Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference) Non-Conference Grand Prix #5.
It was the last Grand Prix of the season, ahead of the ACAC championships taking place on Saturday, October 29.
The SAIT Trojans women’s team has twice been ranked sixth in the CCAA national rankings, and the men’s team is holding at 13th place.
Second-year student athlete Rebecca Britton, undisputed leader of the women’s team, had a fourth-overall individual finish at Grand Prix #5. She blazed her way through the five-kilometre women’s course in 21 minutes, 14 seconds. The team finished third overall – as they did at Grand Prix #3 and #4.
The SAIT Trojans men finished fourth overall on the 8-kilometre course – and same as Grand Prix #3 and #4. First-year student Tony Kiprop was the top Trojan with a 10th-place finish at 29 minutes, 55 secs.

The ACAC, OCAA and ACAA conferences will all host cross-country running championships on Saturday, October 29. The 2011 CCAA Cross-Country Running National Championships will take place Saturday, November 12 at TRU (Thompson Rivers University) in Kamloops, B.C.
