(Cornwall ON - November 19, 2009)  The 2009 Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) Cross Country Running National Championships were the highlight event this past weekend, November 13-14th, 2009, in Camrose, Alberta.  Runners took to the course and enjoyed beautiful sunny weather as they all competed for the championship title.  All 5 CCAA-member conferences were in attendance for a total of 270 participants, including coaches.

“This was the highest quality field in the history of these nationals”, boasts Augustana Cross Country Running Coach, Gerhard Lotz.  “Some of the best young runners in Canadian and for the first time, all 5 conferences, were represented”.

Greg Ryan, Director of Athletics at Augustana Faculty University of Alberta was also thrilled with the Championships as well as the competition.  “The conditions were extraordinarily good given the time of year”, he comments.  “The event management committee did a tremendous job of the technical side of the race as well as creating a great atmosphere for the event”.
