The rackets are set for a "smashing" 2009 CCAA Badminton Championship
(Cornwall, Ont. - February 25, 2009) The CCAA is pleased to announce and congratulate the following athletes who will be attending the 2009 CCAA Badminton National Championship host by Humber College from March 5-7, 2009. The Championship consists of Provincial Champions from the four participating conferences, a host team, and a wildcard team.
The ACAC was awarded the wildcard position. Following an outstanding performance at last year’s Nationals, the British Columbia Colleges’ Athletic Association (BCCAA) will look to maintain its national supremacy.
Competing in the men’s singles are the following:
- Shawn Zhang - Douglas College (BCCAA Champion)
- Dan Kai - NAIT(ACAC Champion)
- Raymond Wong - Humber College (OCAA Champion)
- Ryan MacIntosh - University of King’s College (ACAA Champion)
- Mark Wong - Humber College (OCAA host)
- Jie Yung Sim - Concordia University College (ACAC wildcard)
Competing in the women’s singles are the following:
- Lynn Haung - Douglas College (BCCAA Champion)
- Yang Sun - Northern NAIT(ACAC Champion)
- Jody Carruthers - Cambrian College (OCAA Champion)
- Elysia Atkinson - Holland College (ACAA Champion)
- Karen Ng - Georgian College (OCAA host)
- Ogul Kaltakci - NAIT (ACAC wildcard)
Competing in the men’s doubles are the following:
- Alving Lau and Chi Lin Li - Douglas College (BCCAA Champions)
- Jon Vandervet and Alan Chow - Concordia U. (ACAC Champions)
- Alang Luangrath and Charlie Lay - Humber College (OCAA Champions)
- Brent Barkhouse and Justin Barkhouse - Mount Allison U. (ACAA Champions)
- Simon Yip and Ben Wong - Centennial College (OCAA host)
- Darren Hong and Benson Chan - Mount Royal (ACAC wildcard)
Competing in the women’s doubles are the following:
