2009 CCAA Women’s Badminton Player of the Year
(Cornwall, Ont. – March 4, 2009) Ruilin Lynn Huang is the winner of the 2009 CCAA Women’s Badminton Player of the Year award.
First year player with the Douglas College Royals, Ruilin (Lynn), dominated her field in the British Columbia Colleges Athletic Association (BCCAA).
In the women’s singles discipline Ruilin (Lynn) had an exceptional season. She finished the season undefeated recording 30 wins and 0 losses, 4 tournament titles, and as a result helped lead the Royals to a fourth straight Provincial title. In addition to a number of other tournament titles, a personal highlight of the season was winning the Alberta Open and defeating Anna Rice, who is ranked number 1 in Canada and internationally 22nd.
Ruilin (Lynn) quietly goes about her business on and off the court. She has a wonderful sense of humour and is very well liked by her teammates. Ruilin’s success on the court is testimony to her dedication to training and excellent work ethic.
Outside of Douglas College, Ruilin (Lynn) is coaching at the Shuttlesport/Douglas College Badminton Academy and volunteers once a week coaching young children.
Player of the Year recipients receive a CCAA customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet.
The Canadian Colleges Athletic Association is a national sport organization that enriches the lives of student-athletes through intercollegiate competition.
