Cégep André-Laurendeau will host the 2019 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golf National Championships, presented by PING.
The Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) institution from Montreal will host the event at the Continental Golf Club in Sorel-Tracy, QC, from Oct. 14-18, 2019.
“The Boomerang have successfully competed in many provincial and national competitions in recent years and are building a strong reputation as a college with a winning attitude and culture,” said David Munro, CCAA Vice President Programs.
“They are very excited to host a CCAA National Championship for the first time and the André-Laurendeau community is eager to take part and make this event a success.”
Continental is one of the most reputable golf clubs in the Montreal region and offers a 6750-yard course that will give CCAA golfers many challenges. The course has played host to multiple provincial and national events, including Canada Pro Tour events in 2017 and 2018.
“Club professional Christian Manègre, his entire staff and our coaches Benoit Lemieux and Daniel Langevin are very enthusiastic and eager to host this prestigious event,” said Claude Morin, Athletic Director at Cégep André-Laurendeau. “All our resources at André-Laurendeau and Christian’s staff will be deployed to make this championship an unforgettable one.”
The Boomerang has won four provincial championships in its six seasons of CCAA Golf competition. The team has been ranked among the top teams in the CCAA each year, and has produced such athletes as Hugo Bernard, who is a current member of the Canadian national team.
André-Laurendeau earned a silver medal in the men’s team event at the 2016 CCAA Golf National Championships, hosted by Holland College in Charlottetown, PE.
The 2018 CCAA Golf National Championships, presented by PING, will be hosted by Medicine Hat College in Medicine Hat, AB, from Oct. 15-19, 2018.
