Nathan Choi is 2014 CCAA Men’s Badminton Player of the Year

The CCAA (Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association) has named Nathan Choi the 2014 CCAA Men’s Badminton Player of the Year. Choi competes with the Langara Falcons in Vancouver, B.C.

“Nathan was simply the strongest candidate in the field,” says Alf McGuire, CCAA badminton convenor “He’s earned impressive rankings competing both provincially and nationally.”
 
Nathan’s accomplishments have already earned him titles as the CCAA Badminton Player of the Month, PACWEST Player of the Year, and CCAA All-Canadian. He was also a finalist at the 2013 U23 Canadian Open in both men and mixed doubles, and coaches badminton at the Richmond Olympic Oval.
 
Undefeated in regular season play, the team captain will compete in mixed doubles on the PACWEST championship team at the 2014 CCAA Badminton National Championships. The team goes into the CCAA national championship tournament ranked first in the nation.
 
The other nominees were Spencer Armsworthy of the UKC Blue Devils, Ryan Chow of the Humber Hawks and Andy Ko of the NAIT Ooks.
 
Choi received the award Wednesday, March 26 at the CCAA All-Canadian Banquet at the 2014 CCAA Badminton National Championships in Edmonton, Alta. Player of the Year winners receive a CCAA customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet.
 



The CCAA is a national sport organization that enriches the lives of student-athletes through intercollegiate competition.
